She never noticed how quiet the world had become. No, if she said that then she’d be a liar. She’s always noticed the gradual decline in noise, whether it was from the living or the dead. It made her feel completely alone, even when she wasn’t. The wide-spread area of thick trees Enid stumbled through was jumbled and messy, with sticks and leaves strewn everywhere beneath the overgrown grass. Everything was so cluttered together, so undomesticated, it made her feel safe and at home. Probably because she knew that her mind and her thoughts were just as close to being the same, if they weren't already. Though once she’d scaled the metal walls of Alexandria and entered the forest, her brain kind of just shut off and her feet did all the thinking for it. The trees covered almost every square inch, forming a canopy that almost blocked out the sun. Nevertheless, the unrelenting sun still managed to shoot its rays through the leaves to hit the ground and caused small beads of sweat to form on her forehead. She never attempted to wipe them away though because she knew they’d be back soon after she did. What am I even doing out here? Yeah, the thought had crossed her mind. There was always a reason for her to be in the woods, but today? After everything that’s happened and continuing to happen back at this “safe zone” she’s supposed to be calling home? If she were being completely honest, no place should adopt the name Safe Zone because she knew that as long as the dead still roamed, and as long as people could still turn on their own, no place was safe. Nobody was safe. No matter how hard they tried to make everything seem better than it actually was. The people in Alexandria were stupid to believe that they were safe, even if Enid herself once believed it was true. With that thought, Enid’s mind began to race causing her to miscalculate a step and fumble over a semi-hidden tree root. It was probably embarrassing for anyone else to see but as Enid fell to her knees her mind blanked again, but this time she actually took in her surroundings with a confused expression forming across her face. She was at “The Stump”, the name secretly given by her to a tall broken tree with what was probably one of its branches lying near it. What am I doing? The thought entered her mind once again. Usually she was out here with Carl, mostly reading a comic or complaining about things that she knew were useless to complain about. But now she was here again, and honestly every bone in her body told her to leave. other: this starter is crap and i'm sorry love me pls words: 460 tag: Carl Grimes

Carl wasn't a stalker...well not really. He was more or less curious about Enid...at least he thought. He was a teenage boy, raging hormones. Plus, Enid was just leaving the compound by herself. It wouldn't be the first time he had followed her out, but lately they had been going to the designated "The Stump", which he also called it in his mind, area together for a while. They were friends, yes, and friends snuck out together. He was sure others knew about it, they had to. Climbing over a fence wasn't very discrete, even though they tried. Though no one brought it up or followed them, so it was nice...in a way.
He let his feet carry him over the forest floor, his eyes keeping Enid just barely in sight. Eventually it started to get dark and Carl kept his hand near his gun. He always brought it with him when they went out. It was the woods, the outside. Who knew where the walkers were. And the Wolves. Who knew if they were ever going to come back for more. Alexandria wasn't exactly one hundred percent safe anymore, but with his Dad in charge he had faith that he would keep them together. After all, Dad had kept them safe this long, so why wouldn't he do it some more?
He came up to Enid on her knees at the Stump. He looked at her with slight concern and ran over to squat down in front of her. She looked confused, and he could barely understand why. They had been going there together for weeks, so why was she so confused? "Enid? Are you ok?" She was his friend, so of course he was worried about her. But why had she fallen? He had yet to see her fall unless it had to do with a Walker or something of that sort. Little did he know that it was over a tree root, but he wasn't being one hundred percent observant at the moment.
The heat was starting to get intolerable, especially after running. His head was sweating underneath his hate, making his hair nastier by the minute. It seemed it was never completely clean, but that was no big deal. "Why didn't you tell me you were coming here?" He would have gone with her...but maybe she wanted a break?

She’d only been on the ground for a few seconds before she heard thundering steps of someone’s feet hitting the hard forest floor coming closer and closer towards her. She didn’t have to look up to know who it was. Carl Grimes, someone she considered to be her friend, squatted down in front of her opening his mouth to ask if she was okay. “ I’m fine.” She muttered, rising to her feet and moving herself backwards a little. “ It was just a tree root, I’m fine.” She repeated, knowing that she was, in fact, not fine. Actually tripping over that root had shaken her up a little, but it wasn’t like she was going to let anybody, not even Carl, see that. Instead, she stared at a spot of tall grass beside her and then turned her gaze to Carl, taking in his now patched eye and sweaty face. “ What are you doing out here?” She questioned, crossing her arms across her chest. Enid knew she didn’t need to ask, not since she had realized that almost every time she climbed over the wall Carl wasn’t too far behind her. Even when they’d leave at the same time he was always stepping right after her; If she were being honest, she just needed to get away for a moment, to be alone, but she knew that she’d never get anywhere with Carl chasing after her all the time. “ You were following me… again.” Her eyes slightly narrowed, the concluding statement escaping her lips. “ You know, if you keep stomping around out here you’re going to get yourself killed.” Enid mumbled turning away from him, stepping more carefully this time towards the fallen branch they’d always meet at. One thing she definitely knew about Carl Grimes is that he couldn’t be quiet to save his life. Sure she thought nothing of his little flaw now, but if something were to actually happen to him she wouldn't know what to do. “ Why didn't you tell me you were coming here?” Another question she didn’t really have a good answer to. He seemed to be full of them at the moment. She didn’t say anything at first, just a shrug and a glance at him was all that happened. After a while though, still not having an answer, Enid turned her gaze back to her friend and watched him. “ What’s going to happen now?” other: boiiii words: 401 tag: Carl Grimes

He should have expected her to say she was fine, and he also knew he wasn't going to get anything else out of her. He leaned back as well when she did and stared at her with his one eye. The whole eye patch thing sucked, especially since he couldn't see anything on his right side without turning his head. It got overwhelming after a while, and was certainly hard to deal with when he had first started walking around after the accident. Though even with one eyes, he could tell something was off, but he wasn't sure. Instead he just blew air out and pulled his legs under him and letting his butt fall on the ground. His head titled slightly as he saw her stare at grass and then speak to him. He smirked, slightly amused but not really. "Why wouldn't I be out here?" Honestly, she was his only friend his age. It was very frustrating (considering she was a girl too). It wasn't like he was going to pour his deepest, darkest secrets to her. Having to kill his mother, killing an unarmed man. It was too much, but he had done it for the group and his mother. For his little sister. If they hadn't done what they did, Judith wouldn't be there, they probably wouldn't be living in Alexandria either. They would still be on the road. When she said he was following her, he raised a brow at her. "Um...no, I wasn't." Okay, he was a pathetic liar. Of course he was following her. It wouldn't be the first time either. “You know, if you keep stomping around out here you’re going to get yourself killed.” It was his turn to roll his eyes this time. Didn't she know it was dangerous herself? No, he couldn't be quiet...well maybe. If his life really depended on it, like how it had with the huge amount of walkers in the "safe-zone". "And you shouldn't sneak out by yourself," He replied in turn. What if he hadn't come and she got ate? He'd feel like crap and probably hunt the walker, but that was a thought for another time. Right now, he wanted to relax. He got up and moved to sit with his back to the stump. Then he returned his one eyed gaze to her. "I dunno. Comics? Talk about boring, sappiness? Too bad we can't watch movies anymore." He would kill to see a movie again. It's always the little things you miss when it's the end of the world. OOC: -- Tag: Enid Andrews Word Count: 427

“ Doesn’t your father have something else for you to do?” She inquired; surely he could be doing anything else but being here with her. Alexandria was just overrun by a whole herd and his father had somehow appointed himself as leader, something she wasn’t sure if she was okay with. Enid definitely hadn’t had her fair share of good leaders, but assuming Rick’s violent way of dealing with the Anderson situation she had her doubts. “ Cleaning or something?” She added, a sighing breath leaving her mouth afterwards. She ignored his sorry excuse of an excuse for following her out here; since she was already so used to having him around now it didn’t really bother her as much. “ And you shouldn’t sneak out by yourself.” Her blank face had immediately taken on an angry look, her hazel eyes narrowing even more at his sitting figure. “ I think we both know that I can take care of myself just fine.” She said, sitting herself on the forest floor next to him. “ Remember the timer?” She muttered after, recalling the memory of their first actual meeting in the forest, her hands already picking at the long tendrils of grass in front of her legs. “ I dunno. Comics? Talk about boring, sappiness? Too bad we can't watch movies anymore.” Carl’s eye had directed itself to look at her and she stared right back at him, a confused expression on her face once again. “ What? That’s not what I meant at all.” She exclaimed, careful not to raise her voice any louder just in case there were any walkers roaming the area around them. “ I meant back at ho-… Alexandria.” She stumbled through the sentence, even though the words meant very little to her. Alexandria wasn’t a place she considered home, especially not now. Not after everything that’s happened. She couldn’t seem to find any place other than the attic of Carl’s given house, but even then she didn’t go back there much now that the house was occupied. Maybe just to get her things, and that was about it. “ I think that this is just the calm before the storm.” She expressed, showing a bit of fear in her eyes before turning her face away from him. He never gave an answer to her true question, and she knew that now wasn’t the time to have a deep conversation as he seemed to want to relax. But Enid wasn’t a relaxer, she worried. And right now, she was worrying. “ What’s going to happen now?” other: Bleh words: 421 tag: Carl Grimes

Of course his dad was a topic of interest in their conversation. He always seemed to be in something. Don't get him wrong, he loved his dad. His dad was a great guy. He kept the group alive, he kept Carl alive, he did a lot of things for them. "Just because my dad is the leader doesn't mean I have to have a job." He got defensive over things said about his father, even if it wasn't offensive. Rick did what he had to, and even if that meant killing people or holding them at gun point. He knew many people had their doubts, but Alexandria needed a leader and his Dad had been the one to step up. They knew what they were doing. "I haven't had to clean since I was ten..." He trailed off, remembering the days when he and his mom would clean while his Dad was out doing his job. Though he soon shook the cobwebs of memories out of his mind. He had to stay focused, especially out in the woods. When she got angry, he couldn't help but feel amused. She never really showed all that much emotion, so it was nice to see her get angry. "Yea, that was, like, a one time thing." He was just teasing her at this point. He knew she could take care of herself, but it was fun trying to get reactions out of her. He remembered the timer, how could he forget? He had been relatively surprised that she had thought of it, but he didn't let her know that. “What? That’s not what I meant at all."[/i] Well, she could have cleared it up for him! He caught the stumble of words for home and Alexandria, but he didn't comment on it. He didn't blame her for not wanting to call it home. He didn't like it either. It was nice having a bed, but they were like mice caught in a maze. They were screwed if they ever got surrounded by people who wanted them dead. After the Wolves too...well, it didn't feel one hundred percent safe anymore. He could tell that she was scared, he saw the fear in her eyes for a moment. He didn't blame her, but for some reason he wasn't scared. Maybe it was being out too long, exposed to this mess as a young child. Either way, his fear machine was broken. He was more scared of a girl than he was of a gun. Messed up, huh? "It probably is. You haven't seen the amount of messed up shit out there," There was a lot, and she was pretty lucky if she hadn't. "For now...I guess my Dad will try to take care of Alexandria and if something happens...well, we'll have to be prepared." He didn't know how well that would work, but it was the best he could tell Enid at the moment. What was he supposed to say? Everything was going to be just peachy now? No, because that would be lying, and you don't lie during an apocalypse. OOC: -- Tag: Enid AndrewsWord Count: 516

Enid wasn’t surprised to see him get defensive over his father; she knew how family ties were important. Hell, she didn’t realize how much she loved and needed her parents until after they were ripped away from her by those… things. But she still couldn’t understand why people just so absentmindedly followed after Rick like he was a god given savior. “ Yeah I’ve noticed. Your lack of discipline shows.” She said, her voice taking on a half joking/half serious tone. Carl seemed to just run around, doing absolutely anything. He could never just stay in one place. It was ridiculous. “ You should be helping though.” She muttered, knowing that what she said was hypocritical. Enid could probably help out as well, but she didn’t know these people and it wasn’t like she was going to get to know them anytime soon. It’d taken Glenn a bit to get her to at least come back to Alexandria during the herd invasion, and even more to get her to help save Maggie. But she did it, and that’s all she felt that she had to do. “ The timer was not just a onetime thing! You just weren’t there for all the other times.” She clarified, leaning back on the log. Enid’s venturing beyond the walls had been going on long before Carl’s arrival, and even afterwards when she made sure that he wasn’t and couldn’t follow her. She covered her tracks like an expert. No one was able to trail her, not even Ron. Ron. His face flashed in her mind for a split second before disappearing. Ron had been her boyfriend… sort of, though she never really liked him. She guessed she was just attracted to his innocence, not him as a person. But he was gone now, and she had to find something or someone else to anchor herself to now. Enid had wrapped herself in her own head for a second before she realized that Carl was speaking to her. What he said, what she had heard, had angered her even more than what he said earlier. What did he mean by “ You haven't seen the amount of messed up shit out there”? Of course she probably hadn’t been through half of what he had, but she was still just as ruined. Carl didn’t know how good he still had it, and he probably never would unless someone finally stepped up and knocked some sense into him. She'd spent months out on the road, alone. He still had his family, blood-related or not, and it was insensitive of him to say that to her; especially not after the scare of almost losing Alexandria, almost losing him. “ Carl, I don’t think you realize that- “she paused, glancing at him and then quickly averting her eyes. That I don't have much left, she finished internally. No she wasn’t setting up a pity party, if anything she stopped her sentence to avoid one. Carl brought the conversation back to his father, no surprise there. By this time, Enid was kind of through talking about Rick. She didn’t particularly like him, but she appreciated what he was doing for the ‘ community’. Even then, she still wouldn’t have many good things to say about him, but she opened her mouth to mutter a few words anyway. “ Of course he will, and then the cycle would begin again.” other: oooo Enid's talking shit XD words: 563 tag: Carl Grimes

“Yeah I’ve noticed. Your lack of discipline shows.” He rolled his eyes, even though he couldn't tell if Enid was joking or not. It seemed that the one thing the two of them were good at was throwing insults back and forth to each other. It proved for an interesting conversation in the end though. "I do help. Sometimes it's nice not having to worry about dying." What was her problem anyway? She didn't help more than him, nor less. They just floated around like the kids they were. He knew she had helped save Maggie, but that was about all he head heard of her doing. She definitely didn't seem like the charity type what-so-ever. "You should be helping too as well. It's not like you do anything. If you did, neither of us would be out here." "Uh-huh." At least she wasn't yelling at him again. That was nice, though the walkers would have already been there if they had heard her. So...no death warrant yet. He turned his head towards the right for a brief moment, wanting to be able to see there. Having a blind spot sucked, especially when you need both eyes to have at least a fifty percent survival chance. Yet, he still didn't blame Ron for what he had done. It was purely by accident, even though him picking up the gun wasn't. In the end, Ron's whole family was killed and Carl was left without an eye. It was a rather depressing topic he was reminded of everyday when he tried to get a full view of the world around him. “Carl, I don’t think you realize that-"[/i] He knew what she was going to say. He never saw a father or mother with her. No brother, sister, aunt, uncle, or even group. She was by herself. Yet...she wasn't like him. She wasn't like his Dad, Daryl, or even Glenn. She never saw who they were before and how that had changed them into who they were now. Glenn had been a really nice guy. He remembered, even though he had been very young even then. He was like a lanky teenager and now he was someone who you wouldn't think twice about screwing with unless you were an idiot. She didn't have to deal with cannibals...at least she didn't look like it. The governor, having to help her little sister get born then killing her mother right after. No, she had it easy. She didn't have all these things stacking up on her, causing some, more than likely, unhealthy things within a kids mind. "It's different out there than just hanging out in the woods." He focused on a spot right in front of his shoes, feeling down at the moment. Even then, those were what made him who he was. They weren't actions to be proud of, but he had done them, they had happened. "Yea, I guess it will." After all, that's all it ever was, all it ever will be. It was like evolution and the human race and anything else of that sort. OOC: -- Tag: Enid AndrewsWord Count: 517

Once Carl had started speaking, Enid mostly shut out his words. She knew that she was in the wrong for saying what she did, and she wasn’t about to let him get the satisfaction of knowing that. She wasn’t going to let him get to her. Carl was smart, that much she was sure of, and he seemed to know what to say about everything that came up in conversation between them. Truthfully, Enid felt pretty useless when she was inside Alexandria. She avoided everyone because they scared her, even though just about half of the people living in the place were as harmless as a fly. She’d remembered Deanna saying that some of the people had been there since the beginning, and Enid took it upon herself to assume that they hadn’t been through much so really she had nothing to fear. Rick and his people, however, were something entirely different. Something she didn’t want to look into, just until she knew that she could trust all of them. Enid never did reply to Carl’s accusations, because she knew that he was right. She watched as he tilted his head, his only blue eye scanning the area. Something she caught on about him was that he was always on alert. Not that Enid, herself, wasn’t either; she was just more inconspicuous about it. But at this moment, she couldn’t stop her gaze from drifting to the bandage that now took up part of his face. She felt guilty. She felt like it was her fault, and at times she thought it was. “ I’m sorry for what he did to you.” She murmured, turning her gaze elsewhere. Even with this half-assed apology, Enid still felt the hard hitting guilt that never really showed itself on her face or body. She would never be able to deal with what he’s gone through, not even for a second, and that’s what made him so interesting to her; him and his group, if she were being completely honest with herself. “ Explain it to me, since I obviously haven’t been through half of what you have.” Nothing about her words were meant to be rude or passive aggressive. All they ever did at the Stump was sit and read, almost never talking about anything useful or thoughtful. Actually, Enid thought it was nice to just sit and converse without getting angry with each other. She didn’t need every detail, but just enough to take her mind off of present things like stocking up on food for the winter or rebuilding walls to make them more sturdy and strong. She noticed his facial expression start to get more and more sad by the minute, and she didn’t know if asking about his past experiences would help, but she just needed to sit and let someone else brood about their life instead of her. Enid was pretty sure he was tired of her depressing antics, and it wasn’t like she liked how she was either. She just couldn’t break the habit, and what a bad habit it was. He noticed her look over at his face and he turned his head back to return the look. "I’m sorry for what he did to you.” He felt confused for a moment. Why was she apologizing for something a dead man had done? It wasn't her fault, and he didn't exactly blame Ron for what he had done. So much had happened during the herd invasion that, honestly, he had expected something to go to shit. "It's not your fault. I don't blame him either. If it was me, I probably would have done the same thing." It was just human nature. Ron had thought it was his dad's fault for Jesse and Sam being killed and he was more than likely in pain over it. In the end, the gun had seemed like a great solution and he had died for holding his Dad at gunpoint and Carl lost an eye. It could have been worse. Rick would be dead or Carl would be dead. In the end, it was Ron. He would be lying if he said he didn't have some sort of anger towards it though. He did, it was painful. But, he was glad that he was alive. “Explain it to me, since I obviously haven’t been through half of what you have.” He had expected her to be snappy or rude, but her words weren't that. "Make me understand, okay?" What if he told her and she thought he was a monster? He was a monster though, and there was no going back to being the innocent ten year old he had been before the world went to shit. He sighed and decided that he would only tell her a little bit. He didn't want the world knowing...but maybe talking to someone other than his Dad would help. He didn't know anymore. "We...um we lived in a Prison for a while. My mom...well at first we lived on a farm. Maggie's dad owned it and lived there. There were fences and it was so far away from everything else, it was like they didn't know that the walkers were there. But they did. We found it because this man shot me while hunting. It was a huge buck...I remember being memorized by it...and then I was shot and on the ground. I don't remember much after that." He left out Shane going and getting the supplies Hershel needed to save Carl. He knew he had been around the drain, almost dead. But, Hershel had saved him. "Um, they had a barn and it was filled with walkers. My friend Sophia had disappeared before we got there and when the group decided to open it and kill the walkers...she was in there. Then, not long after that, the farm was raided by walkers. That's how we found the prison. My mom was pregnant at the time and we had to clear out cell blocks in order to be able to live there and so my mom could have Judith. There was another town nearby ruled by a guy named the Governor. The prison was pretty much taken over and my mom went into labor. She couldn't do natural birth so me and Maggie... we had to do a C-section and then I had to...I had to kill my mom." It was painful to think about, but it had brought Judith there. Now they had more the reason to take care of her. "The governor destroyed the prison and we were, once again, on the road. That's when we heard of Terminus. Those who arrive survive. But...that wasn't true. They were cannibals. They tried to kill us and eat us. Then Carol came and destroyed it. We left and now here we are." It was the simplified version. He didn't tell her about killing an innocent boy. No, he wasn't ready to tell anyone that. No one had to know except him and the group.
