Bacon? Now that was something to look forward to. He'd gotten so accustomed to the taste of rodent meat that he wasn't entirely sure if his stomach could handle something has normal as pig. He'd give it a try though. He wondered who was cleaning the hog. Probably Abraham. That man loved butchering things. The messier the better.
"Beth's strong. She'll be alright." He said, smiling softly when Daryl took the apple. He watched the apple juice drizzle down the man's face with a bit of satisfaction before turning his attention to the toys. Maybe they could give Judith the toys early. Waiting nowadays seemed unnecessary. Anything could go wrong and his daughter should enjoy the joys of life before... He shook that thought away. No, nothing would happen to her. Carl either. His son needed this to work just as much as Judith---if not more. He'd seen a small glimpse of what life was like before the world ended. Losing Alexandria would only pull his son further away from what Lori wanted for him---a normal life.
Rick met Daryl's gaze when the other man commented on the apple. He was quickly pulled from his thoughts and placed back into the softly lit kitchen with his friend. He smirked. "It is." He murmured, failing at hiding his amusement. Daryl was an easy man to please. Yet, it didn't take much to set him off either. He'd been on the receiving end of Daryl's wrath more than once and he took great pride in the fact that, after what they'd been through together, Daryl trusted and cared for him just as much as he did the other man. Who would have believed things could turn out like this? He hadn't back on that hill top in Atlanta. It seemed like decades since they'd met in that small camp. Daryl had been belligerent and irate and he had been cocky and out of touch with the true reality of their situation. He'd treated Daryl like some dumb, red neck hick instead of a man scared for brother. Till this day he couldn't understand Daryl's relationship with Merle. Merle had only shown him a small glimmer of his true personality before he'd died. Perhaps there had been more to him as well. Daryl had proven him wrong and had become something akin to a brother in his eyes. Maybe if he hadn't locked Merle on that roof top...? Nah, now he was getting ahead of himself.
"What?" The truth of Daryl's words slapped him in the face and he had the nerve to look affronted. He laughed out loud then, taking the apple from Daryl in a vain attempt to show how offended he was. He truly wasn't though, but he'd play along naturally.
"I was going for the over worked, mid-aged man look. Guess I succeeded." He smirked back at Daryl and took a bite out of what remained of the apple. "Leave it to you to point out my only weakness." His smirk widened into a full grin. "I'm offended." He rubbed the apple juice from his jaw with his thumb and suckled the finger lightly. His eyes sparkled with mischief as he eyed the man up and down.
"I see you've finally decided to take regularly showers." He rubbed the corner of his nose for added effect.
